Outside My Life

Do you ever look at a person and think they have it all together? Remember high school and the "in" group? I always thought when I reach adulthood that I would stop feeling inadequate. I'm not thin enough; I'm not rich enough; I'm not smart enough; I'm not enough!

I hate those feelings!

I took some time this morning to think about my life. I actually tried to view my life as if it weren't mine. Guess what. I discovered those feelings are so irrational. From the outside, my life looks pretty rosy. I have a nice home (which includes a swimming pool. Most people don't have that.), a wonderful family, I'm not fat, I am rich enough (I really don't care much about material things, except that I do LOVE my swimming pool), I am smart enough (although I feel dumber every day), I AM ENOUGH.

When I took the time to view my life the way others probably see it, I am probably one to be envied. My new goal is to count my blessings more often. I am hoping that as I count my blessing those feelings of inadequacy will lessen.

Lost Diamond

I lost a diamond from my wedding set. I think it was a casualty of winter. I kind of remember my ring snagging on my gloves when I was taking them off. The good news is that I have a really smart husband who bought my ring from a jeweler who offers a lifetime guarantee. I immediately went to The Shane Company, www.shaneco.com,in Salt Lake City and told them my dilemma. They took my ring, polished it, checked it to ensure there were no other loose fittings, and replaced the diamond. The only question they asked was, "Did you get it here?"

Within 48 hours, I have my ring back and it looks as beautiful as the day Matt gave it to me. It's kind of ironic. It will be 13 years tomorrow that we got engaged. Is it something about the number 13? Today is Friday, the 13th. Hmmm? I'm not superstitious so it doesn't really matter. It did make me think about the wonderful man who chose me, of all people.

Matt is kind, funny, smart, hard working, spiritual, loving. I could go on and on, but I'm not all the mushy. I often hear men say that they married up, that their wives are better than they are. I have to say that I definately married up. I am a better person today because of Matt. Sometimes I wonder why he chose me and how I can ever live up to the example he sets for me.

I am a lucky woman!
