Happiness is a choice

Life has been hard lately which has overwhelmed me.  I'd forgotten how to live.  I had become blind to the goodness of life.

No more.

Every season has it's own kind of beauty.
Every task has it's own reward.
Every trial has it's own rainbow.

We can choose to become blind to the goodness of life and suffer miserably.

or

We can choose to celebrate the beauty of life and choose happiness.

No more tears for me.
I choose happiness.

Sometimes life is hard

I remember now why I was on autopilot.  It made it possible for me to avoid conflict.

I don't like conflict of any kind.  It is just so painful.

The conflict has been horrible, but as healing comes, the stress and pain melt away and growth takes place.

And the sun begins to shine.

Here's to a brighter tomorrow.

What's so funny?

I've lost my sense of humor.  I don't know where it is, but I am determined to find it.  If you have seen it, please send it back.

Thank you.

Random thoughts and questions

This past week a dear friend lost his sister unexpectedly.  The tragic death of this sister is compounded by the inheritance of her two children.  They are beautiful children with the exuberance for life that only comes with childhood confused by this sudden turn of events.

This family has also struggled in the current economy.  Now add two to four and there are six children.  I don't know how they will manage.  My heart aches for them.

What I do know is that they have tremendous faith in our Savior.  They willingly opened their doors to these children and provided a safe haven for them.  A home filled with love and faith.  I have no doubt that they will embrace these children as if they were their own.  They're just that kind of people.

I wish I had more answers.  I don't understand why things like this happen.  Why does "the plan" have to be so hard sometimes?  And why are some people given more difficulties than others?

And why am I so weak?

I do know that we CAN do difficult things.  And until we are tested, we don't know our true strength.  And we gain strength from trials.  And with God, nothing is impossible.

Auto Pilot

I have been on auto-pilot - not really enjoying life, just going through the motions, dwelling on my sorrows and the stresses of daily life.

I drove to work the other day without really paying attention.  I'm not sure how I even arrived.  I thanked the Lord for blessing me with safety since I certainly wasn't aware of my surroundings.

Life has been stressful and I kind of shut down.  The necessities of life still got done, but that was it.  I felt as if I couldn't even think.

Yesterday I woke from this "dreamland".  Maybe it's because the weather is turning more mild and the sun is shining more often.  I don't know.  I guess it doesn't really matter.  What really matters is that I'm back.

And I am grateful . . .
