New Year Musings

After celebrating the end of 2008/beginning of 2009 until late into the night (I mean early into the morning), in the quiet of an everyone's still sleeping home, I have the opportunity to reflect on the past year and dream of the future. 2008 was a challenging year professionally for me. I had 5 different bosses in one year without changing companies or positions. The local company dodged a bullet when a closure which would have left 90 people without jobs including all of my staff didn't happen (big sigh of relief). We ended the year in the black with our faces turned to the sun and a determination to fine tune our region so we are not looked at again as a possible closure.

At home, 2008 was a very good year. Everyone was healthy all year except for a bout of the flu for Isabelle early in year. We have remained gainfully employed in a year of many jobs lost and even took a fun family trip to Disneyland/So. California with Matt's brother's family in July. Matt survived working full time and returning to school reaping a 4.0, and the girls and I survived too. It was a year filled with busy schedules with school, dance, piano, work and church.

2009 will continue much as 2008. Matt goes back to school next week (graduation will be in 2010) while continuing to teach high school. Isabelle and Gabby will continue with school, dance and piano; and we will still go to church and continue to serve there. For me, I will continue to work, chauffer and manage a household. I have several home improvement projects planned and I would like to get more organized. I don't have a specific plan for that now, but I'm hoping the projects will motivate and inspire me. I'm praying good health will continue. And that some level of sanity will return.

Happy, healthy, prosperous new year!
