A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from my brother-in-law about his son, my 15 year old nephew. He came home from a school activity and checked facebook. One of his friends had posted a suicide note. Steven took quick action and immediately went to his friends house. The friend answered the door after much pounding. This friend had taken what remained from 3 bottles of hydrocodone. He was still coherent, but without Steven's quick action, this friend would have simply gone to sleep and it would have been too late.
Steven has always impressed me. He is very patient with his younger siblings and cousins. They all love him! He's a good student and very respectful. After this event, I have no doubt about his commitment to his friends or our Savior. His actions were very Christlike. What an amazing young man!
He also reminded me that there is still much good in the world. I have a confession. I'm a news junking, but I'm weaning myself off the news. It's all bad. I also hear about disrespectful, lazy teenagers from my husband who teaches high school. He, of course, has some good students also, but I have fallen in the trap of focusing on the negative. Steven brought light and positivity back. There is still much good in the world. Sometimes we forget that. Sometimes we don't see it, but it's there. I'm going to look for the good every opportunity I get.

Wonderful, It does a parent (in-law parent closed enough) good to see their children listen to the Spirit and act. You are rightfully proud of Steven. Give him a big hug next time you see him and tell him THANK YOU, GOOD JOB!
